The American-Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce (AUCC) seeks to promote trade and investment ties, cultural exchanges and bonds of friendship between the United States of America and the Republic of Uzbekistan. In performing these functions, the AUCC places primary emphasis on serving the needs and interests of its members.

Director, Global Government Affairs & Policy, GE Power and Water
Company: General Electric

George A. Pickart is Director of Global Government Affairs & Policy for the General Electric Company’s Power Generation Products business. He is based in the company’s Washington, D.C. office and manages policy, regulatory and other government relations issues for the business. He joined GE in 2008 and held several prior roles with the company. 

Mr. Pickart worked for the CMS Energy Corporation of Jackson, Michigan from June 1999 to March 2008. Mr. Pickart held several positions for CMS Energy, including serving as the Executive Director of the company’s Washington, D.C. office. 

Mr. Pickart served as Senior Adviser for South Asian Affairs at the U.S. Department of State from August 1996 to June 1999. There, he helped to formulate and implement U.S. economic and commercial policy for the South Asia region. 

Prior to his service at the U.S. Department of State, Mr. Pickart worked for ten years in various staff positions in the United States Senate, including his service as Professional Staff Member for the Near East and South Asia at the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations from April 1991 to August 1996. 

As part of his responsibilities with GE, Mr. Pickart has been engaged with a number of trade and professional organizations, including the Gas Turbine Association (currently serving as a board member), the US-Turkmenistan Business Council (currently serving as Treasurer), the U.S. Clean Heat & Power Association (serving as National Chairman from 2009 – 2010), the Edison Electric Institute, the National Electrical Manufacturers Association, and the Electric Drive Transportation Association. 

Mr. Pickart holds a Master of Arts degree in World Politics from the Catholic University of America. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and French from Randolph-Macon College of Ashland. During his career, Mr. Pickart returned periodically to Randolph as a Visiting Instructor of International Relations.
