The American-Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce (AUCC) seeks to promote trade and investment ties, cultural exchanges and bonds of friendship between the United States of America and the Republic of Uzbekistan. In performing these functions, the AUCC places primary emphasis on serving the needs and interests of its members.

UNCTAD delegation pays visit to Uzbekistan

http://www.uzdaily.com of 12/13/2011 - A delegation of UNCTAD led by Nicolae Popa, a regional coordinator of ASYCUDA programme in Europe and CIS, held negotiations at the State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan on 30 November-1 December 2011.

The visit was aimed at presenting ASYCUDA and discussing possibility of participation of Uzbekistan in implementation of pilot project on establishing information cooperation between the Single Automated Information System of the State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan and ASYCUDA, set at the Customs Departments of Uzbekistan at transit corridor through the Uzbek-Afghan border at Hairatan area.

During the meeting, it was announced that the World Bank allocated resources to Afghanistan to implement multi-component project, one of component of which is to establish information exchange between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan in transit sector. The project envisages exchange of information with all of countries, bordering with Afghanistan. Uzbekistan is the first country, with which UNCTAD started negotiations.

The UNCTAD delegation shared information on achievements of its programme in Afghanistan. In particular, the programme helped Afghanistan to set transit procedures in line with international standards, all procedures are automated, etc.

The UNCTAD delegation also offered cooperation in some other areas such as introduction risk management mechanism, including development "one-stop-shop" system. Such cooperation could include providing international consultants, recommendations, trainings and methodical tools of the UN.

The Uzbek side presented single automated information system and answered to all questions of the guests about the system.

Nicolae Popa said that single automated information system of the State Statistics Committee is one of the best and advanced systems in the region and should be studied by customs bodies of neighboring states.

At the end of the meeting, UNCTAD delegation expressed gratitude for well organized visit and presented opportunity for exchange of experience.
