Afghanistan’s neighbours discuss future of this country


September 8 saw an online meeting of the foreign ministers of neighboring countries with Afghanistan.

The meeting, chaired by the Foreign Minister of Pakistan Shah Mahmud Kureishi, also saw foreign ministers of China, Iran, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and the Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan.

The participants of the meeting, expressing support for the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Afghanistan, as well as commitment to ensuring peace, security, national reconciliation, the principles of non-interference and sustainable development of Afghanistan, stressed that the future of the country should be determined by its people.

They noted that a stable, peaceful and prosperous Afghanistan would meet the interests of the entire multinational Afghan people and the world community.

The importance of sustainable international cooperation with Afghanistan, in particular, support for its humanitarian needs in the field of development, was pointed out.

The necessity of joint work to solve common problems and the desire to further strengthen cooperation and good-neighborly relations between neighboring states in the name of promoting peace, security, stability, regional interconnectedness and economic integration was emphasized.

"Afghanistan is the central link of regional interconnectedness between Central and South Asia. The involvement of Afghanistan in regional integration processes is a reliable way to the economic recovery of the country, " Abdulaziz Kamilov said.
