3 April 2020

President Sooronbai Jeenbekov had a telephone conversation with Asian Development Bank President Masatsugu Asakawa to discuss bilateral cooperation.

Jeenbekov thanked ABD for support provided to the Kyrgyz Republic in economic development, including in combating the spread of coronavirus and its impact.

Jeenbekov said that the current situation around coronavirus and slowdown of business activity in the world requires consolidation of efforts and taking joint anti-crisis measures.

ADB President Asakawa said that the coronavirus pandemic is a serious threat to the health of people and economies in Asia and around the world. ADB will consider all possibilities to mitigate the negative impact from coronavirus on the social and economic development.

In addition to budget support, ADB is considering grant assistance for socially vulnerable populations affected by coronavirus and support for small and medium-sized businesses.
