Uzbekistan to speed up mechanization of cotton picking

The Government of Uzbekistan adopted a resolution "On measures to increase the level of mechanization of cotton harvest in the regions of the republic".

In accordance with the resolution, the acceleration of the introduction of mechanization of cotton harvesting will be carried out:

- at the first stage (2020-2022) in Jizzakh, Kashkadarya, Syrdarya and Tashkent regions;

- at the second stage (2023-2026) in all other regions of the republic.

In 2020, the Ministry of Finance will continue to cover the cost of 30 percent for the use of machine services for harvesting cotton in Jizzakh, Kashkadarya, Syrdarya and Tashkent regions.

The resolution approved the Action Plan to increase the mechanization of cotton picking and the organization of cotton harvesting machines' production in 2020-2026.

Also, enterprises included in the system of JSC "Uzagrotechsanoathholding" are allowed, as an exception:

- purchase components, raw materials and materials for the production of agricultural machinery, conclude direct contracts for transport services and other services without tendering by selecting the best offers;

- to pay VAT with a delay of 270 days from the date of placement of goods in the customs regime of release for free circulation (import) when importing components, raw materials and materials.
