Dramatic developments  in both Uzbekistan and neighboring countries are radically altering the environment for American businesses and investors. These changes are both domestic and international. All feed a new regionalism that is fast spreading throughout Central Asia and extending across the Caspian to the Caucasus. Will these changes benefit U.S. firms? If so, what should they do to take advantage of them?

This briefing and discussion will feature Frederick Starr, chairman, and Svante Cornell, director, of the Central Asia-Caucasus Institute at the American Foreign Policy Council. Their recent books include UZBEKISTAN'S NEW FACE and THE LONG GAME: WESTERN STRATEGY IN THE CAUCASUS AND CENTRAL ASIA. For a quarter century, their group has produced pioneering analytic studies on Uzbekistan and the region.
