The American-Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce (AUCC) seeks to promote trade and investment ties, cultural exchanges and bonds of friendship between the United States of America and the Republic of Uzbekistan. Invitation: Uzbekistan and Advancement of Religious Freedom

The following invitation is shared at the request of the Uzbek Embassy in Washington, D.C. Please RSVP by 12pm on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 if you plan to attend.  




"We, the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan, have the pleasure of inviting you to attend a panel discussion at the National Press Club, entitled: "Uzbekistan: An Emerging Model for the Muslim World-Marking Uzbekistan's Progress in Advancing Religious Freedom." It will take place on December 20th, 9.00-11.00 am at the National Press Club (529 14th St NW, Washington, DC 20045).

The panel will discuss the recent decision of the U.S. Secretary of State Honorable Michael Pompeo to remove Uzbekistan from the CPC list (and next steps), as well as the adoption of the Uzbekistan-led UN General Assembly Resolution on "Enlightenment and Religious Tolerance."

Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the United States H.E. Javlon Vakhabov will deliver a keynote speech. Distinguished panelists invited to the event include: Mr. Thames Knox, Special Advisor for Religious Minorities at the State Department, and Mr. James Chen, Vice President for Global Operations at the Institute for Global Engagement. The other US high-level government officials joining the conversation to be announced next week.

Dr. Chris Seiple, President Emeritus of the Institute for Global Engagement will moderate the panel discussions and Q&A with audience.
