Chinese vice premier eyes more infrastructure cooperation with Uzbekistan
Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli met with First Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Rustam Azimov on Thursday, calling for more cooperation in infrastructure and energy.
Zhang recalled President Xi Jinping's state visit to Uzbekistan in June and cooperation agreements under the Belt and Road Initiative.
Zhang called on both countries to implement the consensus reached between the heads of state, synergize development strategies and promote cooperation in industry, infrastructure, energy and resources.
"Both sides should improve the trade and investment climate and make new progress in practical cooperation," Zhang said.
Thanking China's unselfish assistance to the national development of Uzbekistan, Azimov said Uzbekistan regarded China as a diplomatic priority and supported the Belt and Road Initiative.
Azimov said Uzbekistan was willing to work with China to develop the bilateral relationship.
Meng Jianzhu, head of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, also met with Azimov on Thursday, pledging to enhance cooperation in trade, security and culture.
