US$ 20 million limit will help bank expand its trade finance product range
The EBRD is providing a boost to domestic importers and exporters in Uzbekistan by opening a limit of up to US$ 20 million under the EBRD's Trade Facilitation Programme (TFP) to Asaka bank.

Analysts of the information and analytical Uzbek portal World of Finance told Trend about obstacles to increasing the share of European and the US companies in Uzbekistan.
Experts stressed that in fact, nothing prevents the increase in the number of companies from Europe and the United States in the country, but there are some points that directly affect the emergence of new companies from these countries in Uzbekistan.
"This is an underdeveloped business environment with a complex tax system and lack of qualified specialists.

The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, has signed Resolution No. PP-4381 dated July 1, 2019 (the "Resolution"), which is aimed, inter alia, at further simplifying privatization procedures. The Resolution recognizes that public assets are often valued at exorbitant prices because of the lack of unified practices on their evaluation, which leads to delays in privatization and necessitates step-by-stop lowering of prices.

Together with the World Bank, International Financial Corporation (IFC) is currently in discussions with the government of Uzbekistan to act as a lead transaction advisor for the tendering of a public-private partnership for the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of a new combined-cycle gas turbine near the existing Syrdarya thermal power plant, IFC Country Officer for Uzbekistan Zafar Khashimov told Trend in an interview.
"The project will help increase efficiency for gas-fired electricity generation and support a reliable power supply in the country," he added.
Considering Uzbekistan's investment attractiveness to foreign capital, Khashimov noted that during the past two years, the government has made significant progress in advancing difficult economic reforms.

The US financial holding JPMorgan Chase Bank agrees to provide a credit line for the implementation of investment and commercial projects in Uzbekistan, Trend reports via Uzbek media.
On August 8, the ceremony of signing a structured export credit agreement of an international standard between the financial holding JPMorgan Chase Bank and Uzbek Joint-Stock Commercial Bank Asaka was held In Moscow.
The event, held at the Moscow office of the holding, was attended by senior officials of JPMorgan Chase Bank and Asaka Bank, as well as representatives of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Russia.

Tashkent International Airport has announced a tender for the purchase of two AT- 40 (airfield tankers) for refueling aircraft.
Commercial offers are accepted until 16:00 (GMT +5) August 20, 2019.
Terms of payment: 30 percent of the prepayment, the remaining 70 percent after the transfer of the goods to the buyer within 5 days.

As follows from the decree of the President of the country dated July 31, 2019, Uzbekistan will begin to subsidize buyers of agricultural machinery oflocal production from September 1 of this year, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan.
It is expected that the State Fund for Agricultural Support will allocate 60 billion soums to implement a system of 15 percent subsidizing the purchase of agricultural machinery, the localization level of which is at least 20 percent.
The document also states that, by October 2020, a modern casting line worth $42 million will be launched at the former Tashkent Tractor Plant, where high-precision casting of 47,000 tons of metal products meeting international requirements will be established.

Uzbek Presidential Resolution No. 4401, "On measures to further improve the geological study of the subsoil and implement the State Program for the Development and Reproduction of the Mineral Resource Base for 2020-2021", dated July 23, aims to improve geological studies of the subsoil and implement a state program to develop the country's mineral resources.
In particular, as indicated in the resolution, the State Committee for Geology (hereinafter - "Goscomgeology"), with the assistance of international consulting companies, has developed a strategy for the development of the mineral resource base, taking into account modern international standards and high-level foreign experience.

The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the United States Javlon Wahabov, visited Pennsylvania on July 31, 2019, and held talks with representatives of official, business and non-governmental circles, Trend reports referring to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.
During the meeting with the Mayor of Philadelphia, Jim Kenney, the prospects for the development of Uzbek-American relations and the measures taken by the Government of Uzbekistan to enhance cooperation with the United States at both the federal and regional levels were discussed.
Following the talks, the parties agreed to jointly work out the issue of establishing twin-town relations between the city of Samarkand and Philadelphia.

Silk-manufacturing enterprises of Uzbekistan will receive subsidies from the state until August 1, 2022, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan.
Subsidies will be issued to compensate up to 50 percent of the cost of transporting 8 types of products by air and rail to the United States, the European Union and Turkey at the expense of the State budget, in accordance with the presidential decree "On additional measures for the development of deep processing in the silk industry".
Moreover, the cost of grains of the silkworm and other material and technical resources necessary for the production of cocoons, which are delivered by the enterprises of "Uzpaksanoat", will not be considered a turnover of the sale of goods.
