The museum holds one of the largest collections of Central Asian textiles. Founded in 1925, its collection of over 20,000 pieces dates from 3,000 BCE to the 20th century. The museum, with its exhibitions and programs have broad reach: recently, museum members resided in all 50 states and 56 countries.

Uzbekistan has imposed a moratorium on inspections of financial and business activities of business entities, with the exception of inspections conducted in criminal cases and in connection with the liquidation of a legal entity.
This is stipulated by the presidential decree "On the State Program for the Implementation of the Action Strategy on five priority development directions of Uzbekistan in 2017-2021" in the Year of Support of Active entrepreneurship, innovative ideas and technologies."

The World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors approved financing of the District Heating Energy Efficiency Project, through which over 240,000 residents in five cities across Uzbekistan are to benefit from improved efficiency and quality of heating and hot water services.
The Project will be financed by a $140 million credit from the International Development Association, a part of the World Bank.
“The World Bank is pleased to support the modernization of the District Heating sector,” said Hideki Mori, World Bank Country Manager for Uzbekistan.

The Uzbek Ministry for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications held negotiations with the representative of the regional department of Deloitte Christopher Armitage which focused on the involvement of Deloitte in developing a national concept in the field of ICT.
In particular, the issue of studying best international practices and applying it in Uzbekistan was considered, according to the message on the ministry's website.
The future concept should cover such areas as telecommunications infrastructure, e-government, information security, innovation, mail, logistics and e-commerce.

Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and China will hold a tripartite meeting on the implementation of the agreement on the international road transport, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry reported.
The meeting will be held in Tashkent on January 24-25. Before the trilateral meeting, there will be held bilateral Uzbek-Kyrgyz and Uzbek-Chinese meetings on international road transport issues.

A delegation of the World Bank (WB) headed by Kristalina Georgieva, Chief Executive Officer of the World Bank, visited Tashkent on January 18.
Georgieva hailed wide reforms in Uzbekistan aimed at developing the economy and improving the lives of all citizens, according to the message on the World Bank’s website.
In the course of the visit, she met with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the leadership of the Government and Parliament, representatives of the private sector and civil society.

Uzbekistan plans to introduce a visa-free regime for five countries, Head of the State Committee for Tourism Aziz Abdukhakimov said during a press briefing.
He said that the country is doing a lot to simplify the visa regime.
"We are considering the introduction of a visa-free regime for five major countries, in addition to the three countries from where we expect the largest inflows of pilgrims," he said.

Uzbekistan will purchase 5,778 units of equipment for agricultural needs of the country in the first half of 2018.
Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree “On additional measures to further improve the technical equipment of agriculture” on January 4.
The document notes that the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources jointly with Uzagrotehsanoatholding JSC determined the primary need for the supply of modern arable and tilled tractors, combine harvesters, plows, seeders and other agricultural equipment for the spring agrotechnical work in 2018 in the amount of only 5,778 units, including 758 arable tractors, 1,500 tilled tractors, 330 horticultural tractors.

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has approved a framework agreement signed with the European Investment Bank (EIB).
The agreement defines the legal framework for the EIB's activities in Uzbekistan. The Bank will officially be able to support public and private sector projects in such areas as infrastructure, energy and energy efficiency, as well as small business development.

Uzbekistan intends to adopt Kazakhstan’s experience in developing public services, Kazakhstan’s Agency for Civil Service Affairs and Anti-Corruption reported Dec. 22.
State Services Department Director Adilbek Mukashev met with representatives of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Justice, and presented one-stop-shop centres and the e-government system, where the Kazakh side presented its experience in assessing, controlling and publicly monitoring the quality of public services.
