Trading house for the sale of Uzbek textile products opened in New York

On 2 March 2020, in New York, the official opening ceremony of the next Uzbek trading house of SAG companies (Samarkand) for the sale of branded carpets, as well as Gulnor (Shakhrisabz) for the sale of textile products from silk was held. The Uzbek diplomats who attended the ceremony welcomed the opening of a trading house, which was largely due to the support provided by the Government of Uzbekistan to domestic entrepreneurs by creating a favorable business climate in the country, protecting their rights and interests, and promoting Uzbek products to foreign markets. According to the Uzbek Embassy in Washington, already in the second Uzbek trading house, opened in the United States over the past two years, organized the sale of Uzbek carpets and traditional textile products from silk. |read|

Uzbekistan cancels state regulation of cotton production

Starting from the harvest season in 2020 harvest, Uzbekistan will cancel state regulation of the cotton production plan, price and mandatory sales plan, Trend reports citing Uzbek media. Uzbekistan seeks investors for 1,500 MW gas power plant

Uzbekistan on Wednesday invited foreign companies to take part in a project to build a 1,500 megawatt (MW) gas power plant in what it wants to become the biggest energy public-private partnership to date, the country’s energy ministry said. The ministry said it has pitched the project to executives from Sumitomo, Mitsui, Engie, EDF , Kepco, AcwaPower, Hyundai, Mitsubishi, Marubeni, and other companies who took part in a videoconference. The proposed deal is for the construction of a combined cycle gas plant in the Central Asian nation’s Sirdarya province, the ministry said in a statement. |read|

ADB to Allocate over US$2 Billion This Year to Support Projects in Central Asia

Asian Development Bank will allocate over US$2 billion this year to support 18 projects in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. ADB Country Director for Kazakhstan said that about 40 percent of the allocated funds will be used to finance four projects such as transport, infrastructure, agriculture, and green finance in Kazakhstan. “We plan that this year we are going to fund something close to US$800 million. |read|

Uzbekistan plans to modernise mining company

The president of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, last week chaired a meeting on plans to reform fully state-owned enterprise Navoy Mining and Metallurgical Plant (NMMP). The country's largest industrial enterprise, NMMP produces gold, uranium and rare metals as well as other products. NMMP accounts for 10% of all industrial production in Uzbekistan and 18% of budget revenues, according to a government statement on the 26 February meeting, and by the volume of raw materials, it is the third largest gold producer in the world. |read|
