The art culture of Uzbekistan is based on all the best achievements of the Uzbek people throughout history. National arts and crafts occupy a prominent place in the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan.
In Uzbekistan wood carving is executed on a wide range of objects - from massive beams for ceilings to tiny children's amulets. The development of this art in the past was linked up with ornamenting constructions and local architectural details, where the overlap post-and-beam system already presupposed using wooden materials on a large scale.
UzbekAlive is an online fabric store which offers a variety of Central Asian ikat fabrics and the largest online selection of silk ikat scarves. Their ikats are hand dyed and handloom woven in Fergana Valley of Uzbekistan using a centuries old technique of ikat weaving.
Madeline Weinrib, New York City artist and granddaughter of ABC Carpet & Home founder Max Weinrib, branched out from her rug-making venture (started in 1998) into the development of ikat and suzani fabrics, made in Uzbekistan. Her Atelier located on the sixth floor of ABC Carpet & Home in New York is the main retail venue for her handcrafted products such as chairs, ottomans and pillows which all use ikat, suzani and vintage textiles.
